Another election that is likely to come down to the wire is the battle between Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Republican Adam Laxalt, but with this contest having a rather controversial endorsement and a strange lack of endorsement on the other. The incumbent Senator Cortez Masto broke records by becoming the country’s first ever Latina senator when she won her seat in 2016.
But what a difference a few years can make as now she is seen as the most at risk candidate as over the last few years Democrat support amongst Latino voters has been eroding. Although Latino voters have been steadily moving towards more conservative policies on abortion and immigration, it’s likely the economy and its recent struggles that is moving them further away from the Democrats.
