The race for the Senate in Ohio shouldn’t really be as close as it is due to the fact that despite the state swinging back and forth between the two major parties since the early ’90s, since 2016, The Buckeye State has solidly supported the Republican candidates in two consecutive presidential elections.
The Democrats have put their faith in political stalwart Tim Ryan, 49, a 10-term lawmaker in the House of Representatives and 2020 presidential candidate. Ryan, who once challenged Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her leadership gavel in the House, has certainly managed to get supporters to pony up the dough for his campaign, raising a whopping $21.5 million.
