Barnes doesn’t need to remind the people of Wisconsin about Johnson’s off kilter opinions, so is heavily focusing, as many other Democrats are, on his anti-abortion position. However, Johnson is counteracting this by insisting that it is Barnes who holds the extreme positions citing his previous association with the far-left movement to defund police and abolish the agency that detains illegal immigrants.

Despite this race, like the others mentioned in this article, being states that could be decided on razor thin margins, the Democrats have every right to be optimistic about a potential victory as their party has had considerable success in recent statewide elections, winning not only the state’s other Senate seat but wrestling back control from the Republicans after Trump took the state in 2016.
