2. Richard Uihlein

Republican

Total donations: $80.7M

Along with his wife Elizabeth, Richard Uihlein has been a Republican piggy bank for decades now. Famous for rarely giving interviews and being described as a person who “shuns the spotlight,” Uihlein has been a longtime donor to Republicans who share his ultra-conservative views. As the co-founder of shipping giant Uline, one of the nation’s largest privately owned companies, this social and economic conservative continues to be a major force for Republicans in recent elections.

Arguably the most powerful conservative super PACs and one whose stated policy goals are to cut taxes and other economic policy issues, Uihlein gave Club for Growth $23.2 million and he remains their largest funder. He also backed Wisconsin senator Ron Johnson by donating $3.5 million to a group backing the three term senator as Uihlein continues his longstanding efforts to influence key Wisconsin races.
