10. Larry Ellison

Republican

Total donations: $31M

Our final entry is by far the wealthiest individual on this list. Ellison made his considerable fortune (nearly $100 billion) by co-founding, along with Bob Miner and Ed Oates, the computer technology company Oracle Corporation and turning it into the third-largest software company in the world by revenue and market capitalization.

In previous elections Ellison has donated to both Democratic and Republican politicians, however, this time around he would back the Republican party. Ellison became one of the most significant financial contributions of the 2022 election cycle when he handed over $20 million to a super PAC aligned with Sen. Tim Scott called the Opportunity Matters Fund in an effort to back GOP candidates in tight Senate races.

  1. Do I see a trend here? Make it look like the republicans have more money? If that’s true, how do the democRATs out spend the republicans 5 to 1?
