1. Georgia
When it comes to polar opposites, there can be no greater example of this dichotomy than the race currently taking place in Georgia between Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker. After two upset victories in this traditionally conservative southern state in the 2020 election gave the Democrats control, Georgia has the potential to flip back into Republican control in what is still a tight race regardless of the series of scandals plaguing the red side of the aisle.
Warnock, 53, a Baptist preacher who rose to prominence as the senior pastor at Martin Luther King Jr’s church, became the state’s first-ever black senator with the help of a massive turnout from the African American community in Georgia. Taking note of this, the Republicans put forward their own black candidate, the 60 year old, former football star, Herschel Walker.
