Helen Gillis
At only 16 years old, Helen made an interesting move by marrying Lester Gillis, who was about to become known as Baby Face Nelson. By the time she was 20, she had two babies, and a strong spot on the “shoot to kill” list of Public Enemies, thanks to her husband.
She has been considered more of an accomplice than a gangster in her own way, but Gillis was there at the “Battle of Barrington” in Illinois on November 27, 1934.
Nelson discovered a cop car, and alongside Gillis and his fellow thug John Paul Chase, chased it down, blazing their guns. This shoutout killed Nelson, alongside two police officers.

Great reading and a touch of our history. Even in high school I enjoyed reading about the things and people that live during that period of life. Thanks very much.
