5. Criminal Tax Fraud Trial in New York
Trump’s namesake business, the Trump Organization, has been accused by Manhattan prosecutors of avoiding paying taxes on perks like luxury cars and apartments given to high-level executives in a 15-year scheme to defraud tax authorities by failing to report and pay taxes on compensation provided to employees.
Former Trump Organization Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg has already pleaded guilty and has recently testified that Mr. Trump was fully aware of this scheme. The company itself has of course pleaded not guilty, but the signs are not looking good if one of the top executives has already turned their back on Trump in order to save their own skin.
