1. The Threat Is Far From Over
With more than 840 people being arrested for their part on that troublesome day and many more still awaiting sentencing 17 months after the attempted insurrection, it would be easy to think that it is all over and we’ve somehow dodged the proverbial bullet. Well, not if you’re Liz Cheney. The Wyoming Republican, who is serving as the vice chair of the committee, believes that the domestic threat is not over.
Cheney has long been one of the few Republicans to publicly condemn Trump and his acolytes. And while the committee continues to document the role of Trump and some of his allies in trying to undermine the 2020 election, Cheney believes there are still some menacing machinations going on in the background. Her pursuit of Trump and his cronies might actually end up with her losing her GOP primary in Wyoming later this summer.
