27. Tina Kotek

As with Massachusetts Govenor-elect Maura Healey, the former speaker of the state House, Kotek’s victory in the open three-way race for the governorship of Oregon suceeding term-limited Democratic Gov. Kate Brown will make her one of the first out lesbian governors in US history.

28. Lori Chavez-DeRemer

Another politician sharing the history books is Mexican American Lori Chavez-DeRemer. The former mayor of Happy Valley defeated Democrat Jamie McLeod-Skinner in the race to succeed Democratic Rep. Kurt Schrader in Oregon’s 5th Congressional District and will join Democrat Andrea Salinas who defeated Republican Mike Erickson to win the state’s new 6th Congressional District and become the first Latino members of Congress from Oregon.
