It is laughable to think Columbus discovered the new world, but many people still believe this. Leif Erikson came to Canadian shores five centuries before Columbus landed in the Bahamas, and King Olaf I converted Erikson to Christianity in a place now known as Norway. Erickson, a merchant, combined exploration with evangelism to unsaved nations.
He set sail to Greenland but sailed off course and found himself in Markland, Helluland (Nova Scotia). In Vinland (Nova Scotia), he spent two seasons in North America before leaving for Greenland, where he then ascended the throne. Therefore, Erikson was the one to discover America or probably others may have preceded him but are not recorded in history.

Our founding fathers thought of Democracy as the worst form of government, largely because they read the classics, often in their original Greek or Latin. That is why they created a Republic, and why we avoided the Reign of Terror that they had in “democratic” revolutionary France.
The United States has never been a democracy. A pure democracy cannot function on a large population and has no protection for individual rights. It is an ancient idea. The United States idea is limited government where rights are natural and begin with the individual.
