19. Andrea Campbell
A former member of the Boston City Council representing District 4, Campbell was the first Black female president of the Council. After an unsuccessful bid to become Mayor of Boston in 2021, she would bounce right back and run for the position of attorney general of Massachusetts after incumbent Attorney General Maura Healey announced that she would not seek reelection to run for governor.
Not only was she the first black woman in the history of Massachusetts to qualify for inclusion on the ballot for a statewide election, she would go on to easily defeat her Republican opponent Jay McMahon, making her. the first Black woman elected attorney general of Massachusetts.
