4. Immigration
Immigration was another headache for the Biden administration as after Trump-era immigration policies were eased, the number of undocumented migrant crossings at the US-Mexico border surged to the highest levels in decades. It is largely due in part to the end of the pandemic, but voters will just see the numbers of immigrants entering the country, not the reasons for it.
Biden did promise in his campaign to become president that he would build a “fair and humane,” modernized immigration system. However, immigrant advocates are still waiting for that to happen as Biden seems to be shying away from discussing the subject as it might have a negative impact on Democrat support in the upcoming midterms.
