The number of veterans in Congress has dropped almost progressively since the mid-1970s, veterans now make up less than 20 percent of Congress. In the 1960s, about 75 percent of members in Congress were veterans. Presently, the number of veterans in Congress is one in every six members.
With having fewer numbers of veterans in Congress it can perhaps cause a decline in inclination by the legislature to impact the White House on defense and national security inventiveness.
Resulting in a low inclination to request information from the White House on practices regarding military force, making it merely tougher for Congress to do its job as a foreign policy regulator and consultant, specifically as a Congress with fewer veterans may also tip to a less transparent White House.
