Dramatic reductions when it comes to burning coal

Coal is probably the most environmentally dangerous of all the existing fuels out there. Back in 2016, when Trump was still just a candidate, he vowed that America would soon burn more coal. Instead, U.S. coal consumption declined in each and every year of his presidency.

In 2019, the U.S. burned 586 million tons of coal, which meant a reduction of almost 50 percent from the 2007 peak, and a drop of almost 15 percent over 2018. Of course, this wasn’t at all what Trump wanted.

A harder-working president would have probably thwarted it. However, in this one crucial respect, Trump’s legendary laziness left the world a cleaner and greener place.

  1. You didn’t mention the over a million deaths from Covid following his longstanding ignorance and attempted deception. Nor did you comment on his flagrant attempt to destroy our democracy by inciting a coup. His criminal use of the office, his racism, his authoritarian and self-serving policies, will impact for generations.
