  • Trump and the Chinese President Xi Jinping – Guess who’s the next dictator that Trump really likes? Yep, it’s Chinese President Xi Jinping. As Trump stated on June 30, 2019, he is very fond of the Chinese President. In fact, Trump sees him as a friend, because he’s a “strong guy, tough guy”. On April 2, 2019, Trump called Xi Jinping “King”. The Chinese President corrected him and said that he’s a president, to which Trump said: “No, you are president for life, which makes you a King.” You can only imagine how much the Chinese President liked to hear it.
  • Trump and the Russian President Vladimir Putin – And last but not least, Vladimir Putin. Trump always advocated for peace and understanding between America and countries like Russia or China, emphasizing how good it is to have a good relationship with these countries. On September 7, 2016, he said that Vladimir Putin “has a very strong control over a country. It’s a very different system and I don’t necessarily like the system, but he is a leader. Far more than our president has been” (meaning to Barack Obama).

While there are other examples as well, I think we can all see that the former President of the U.S. has a certain preference for authoritarian regimes.

Added to the fact that he preferred allying with these political figures, he also picked fights with America’s traditional allies, such as Australia, and Germany.
