Musk would continue his public protestations about all the problems he saw at Twitter and even went as far as to accuse them of covering up the volume of bot and spam accounts on the site in a continued effort to back out of the deal. Unfortunately for Musk, the Twitter board still had their hands firmly on the steering wheel and weren’t about to swerve any time soon.
Musk’s complaints and accusations would ultimately end up in a burning pile of twisted metal by the side of the road as Twitter continued to pursue him in court to enforce the $44 billion deal with a trial date set for Oct. 17 in Delaware. With his day in court fast approaching and markets increasingly predicting a verdict in favor of Twitter, Musk says he will resubmit his bid to acquire the company for $54.20 if Twitter agrees to drop its case against him. They decline.
