After the senseless events of the 2012 massacre of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, you would think that politicians would put every other piece of legislation on the back burner and commit, no, devote themselves to passing legislation that would ensure that no parent or loved one should ever have to go through something so heinous and soul destroying again.
And yet here we are…..
The Consitution is something all Americans hold dearly as we built our democracy, and the right to vote is something worth cherishing. However, our priorities were set in constitutional stone when The Second Amendment was put in place to protect our right to keep and bear arms. And while every gun owner in America is not going to walk into an Elementary School and open fire on innocent children and their teachers, the fact that this is happening, again and again, means that the politicians put into power by those same gun owners have a duty to do something about it.
