5 Scenarios That Would End The Ukraine-Russia Conflict

  • Insurgency – Many believe that Ukraine will keep on fighting against any puppet regime, with the conflict descending into an insurgency with those who would remain in the country, and defend democracy by any means available. In such a scenario, strategists at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security program, Barry Pavel, Peter Engelke, and Jeffrey Cimmino, believe that a Russian victory in Ukraine would be completely unworthy, as what would be the point of winning when you lost so much to achieve it.
  • Russia vs. NATO – As you probably know, the Western military alliance NATO has stated many times that it refuses to intervene in the Russia-Ukraine war, as this would bring them into a direct conflict with Moscow. Countries that are in NATO but also on the eastern flank of Europe, such as Poland, Romania, and the Baltic states are currently extremely nervous about the potential of a conflict unfolding on their own territory. Even so, it’s highly unlikely that Russia would launch a direct military attack against any of the NATO forces, given the fact that everyone knows it would escalate to an all-out war.
  • Could there be a miracle? – In this dire situation, the best possible outcome for the Ukrainian people would be for the immediate withdrawal of the Russian army. Analysts believe that in the best scenario, Russian authorities would understand what kind of “price” they would have to pay for this invasion, and forced by an economic collapse and diplomatic isolation, Putin would order an immediate withdrawal of his troops. But even in this outcome where Ukraine would be a sovereign democracy and NATO would have an improved security situation, things could still be a bit dangerous.
