Normalization in the Middle East
President Trump decided to move the United States embassy in Israel to Jesuraselm, and even proposed a peace plan that was meant to substitute economic development for instant Palestinian statehood. Those experts who are traditional feared that Trump’s political approach would ignite a regional conflict.
However, if anything, the region calmed. First the United Arab Emirates, then Bahrain and Sudan, and in the end, even Morocco opened diplomatic relations with Israel. It is now allowed to fly directly from Tel Aviv to Dubai, overflying Saudi Arabia.
Trump also managed to bring long-delayed justice to Iran’s General Qassem Soleimani, the author of so many acts of terrorism. Once again, the majority of experts feared that killing Soleimani would definitely trigger the direst consequences.
However, the Iranian regime itself halted the cycle of retaliation after one reckless mistake they did to themselves, where a civilian airliner was brought down at Tehran airport, killing all the 176 passengers and crew.
Iranian authorities’ first response was to lie about their responsibility, but when the truth could be concealed no longer, all that outrage that came from the Iranian people completely shook the mullah regime.
In reality, Trump broke every single rule in the diplomatic book. He took payments to himself and his whole family from the same parties he was in the middle of negotiations with, not only single millions at his own hotels but the multiple millions in financing that his son-in-law’s family got from the Qataris, in order to retrieve a very bad investment in a New York City office building.
Of course, Trump didn’t hold back from showing blatant favoritism to the Israeli people over the negotiating parties. He constantly surprised everyone involved with his abrupt decisions in the U.S. policy, as he decided to support the Kurds, betray the Kurds, appease Turkey, sanction Turkey, even provoke Iran, and sanctioning Iran, withdraw U.S. forces from the region, and recommit U.S. forces again to the region.

You didn’t mention the over a million deaths from Covid following his longstanding ignorance and attempted deception. Nor did you comment on his flagrant attempt to destroy our democracy by inciting a coup. His criminal use of the office, his racism, his authoritarian and self-serving policies, will impact for generations.
