During his last trip to the G20 summit in Japan, former President Donald Trump met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. There was a photo op before the meeting started, where Trump said something to Putin: “Get rid of them. You know fake news is a great term, right? You might not have this problem in Russia, but we do.” to which Putin answered: “We also have it. It’s the same.”
While it’s not true at all, given the fact that Putin’s government is known to trace down journalists who aren’t willing to say Putin’s lies, it’s extremely worrying to think about how a former President of the United States has such sympathy for dictators.
