Reno, Nevada
Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, who’s a Democrat who supports abortion rights, declared that the state’s residents wouldn’t be immediately affected by a Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.
That’s mainly because voters passed a referendum in 1990 which guaranteed a right to a legal abortion until 24 weeks of pregnancy. However, Ford shares the same concerns as President Joe Biden in terms of privacy rights that might be suddenly put at risk if the justices will follow through.
On the other side of the issue, former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, who’s an anti-abortion Republican seeks the GOP nomination to try to unseat Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto in November, so he praised the motive behind this draft opinion.
