1. Mar-a-Lago Documents
Many politicians, pundits, and the general public were shocked to discover that after leaving office Mr. Trump decided that he could remove whatever sensitive documents he wanted from the White House and take them to his private residence, even highly sensitive documents relating to nuclear weapons. A federal grand jury in Washington has already been empaneled to investigate how he handled these government owned documents.
The National Archives, whose duty it is to collect and sort any and all presidential material after the president leaves office, stated that at least 15 boxes of White House records were recovered from Mar-a-Lago. The now famous photograph of them lying on his Mar-a-Lago carpet has indeed confirmed that is precisely what the former commander-in-chief had done. While Trump cries ‘executive privilege’ the ongoing investigation is seeking to ultimately prosecute him for violating a criminal law that prohibits the removal or destruction of official government records.
