With the results of the 2022 midterm elections all but in, there is still the Georgia Senate runoff between Republican Georgia Senate nominee Herschel Walker and incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock, the red wave that was expected but didn’t emerge with voters turning against (most) Trump endorsed candidates, that was the story that dominated the headlines after the results came in.
However, what people are not talking about is how many Democratic and Republican candidates achieved historic victories. With breakthroughs for LGBTQ representation in governor’s offices, the first Black Republican congressman from Michigan and the first Latino Republican to represent Arizona in Congress, to name a few, here we are going to look at the candidates who made American history with their wins.
