Donald Trump is extremely vulnerable to a primary challenge
Inflation was one of the biggest problems for voters, and even if Republicans were, in theory, trusted more on this matter, it seems that independents swung toward Democrats. This move is definitely defying what we know about history, and we can’t help but wonder what happened, as it seems that Trump-backed candidates lost the ballot.
Even more, there are fingers that are pointing right as we speak at the former president from his own party. As the Republicans believe, he is the only one to blame for losing the Senate and a much smaller-than-expected House majority. He is even facing a DOJ special prosecutor.
The next Republican leader might have a hard time legislating
Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. has only one thing on his mind: he wants to become a speaker. A majority of his conference even voted for him to become the next leader, but he still has a long way to come when it comes to convincing 218 members to vote for him for speaker in January.
Even if he succeeds, given that he will only get a narrow House majority (meaning a maximum of four seats at this point), he will still have a hard time passing legislation.
It’s highly important to have Democrats holding the Senate
Having Democrats holding the Senate will mean that they will be able to block any legislation that comes from the house. Besides that, they will also show this unified front with President Biden, which is very important.
Basically, they will have all the means necessary to keep on reshaping the federal judiciary. Even more, if any vacancy will come open on the Supreme Court, then Biden and his Democrats will immediately fill it. And I think we can all agree just how important was to appoint justices to the high court, especially when it comes to the Dobbs decision this year.
