Also, former New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin and the former Democratic congressman William Jefferson have picked up the same tradition.

There doesn’t seem to be any answer to these corrupt politicians. When they do get caught, they plea-deal or resign. Pennsylvania is especially greedy, in that they always divert the monies that are earmarked for seniors, road repairs, and schools. I will never vote for another Democrat again.

I think you need to do some research, it was a Republican Senator who tried to overturn the vote from his state because Donald Trump wanted with no real proof, if you ask me you can’t get more corrupt then that. The last Republican administration in the White House was the most dishonest and corrupt in our great history. This goes all the way to the head of the Republican Party in Congress Kevin McCarthy who can’t tell the truth if his life depended on it. The one thing Donald Trump did for the Republican Party is make it chic for Republican Politicians to lie and be bullies. This is a beautiful state (Commonwealth). Wonderful people live throughout the state. It’s Philadelphia with its corruption and lack of law enforcement that is the problem.
Your frustration is clearly expressed. I’d like to offer a short take on my experience after living in 5 different states as an adult. States where one party has a DOMINANT role – controlling the state legislature, governorship, and Senate and House reps, seem to have MORE corruption and insularity than states where there is a balance. For instance, NJ and Illinois have been dominated by Dems, and we’ve seen a lot of shady business there. By contrast, in Maine and NH, where I’ve lived, the two parties seem to battle it out with only one (recently) taking the ascendancy. In short, would you consider considering each race with a fresh eye? Take John Fetterman, I think he’s poised to find the sweet spot between doctrinaire Democratic politics and radical Republican plans to weaken our social safety net (it’s pretty weak already) and fight hard for working folks who want government to support and honor workers. In Florida, the Republicans control everything and cater to the conspiratorial and mis-informed masses. Our kids can’t get vaccinated because our Surgeon General is anti-science, anti-vaxx. Millions of Floridians lost their health insurance when Republicans declared they couldn’t afford it in the budget. The state has a $2 billion surplus, and lots of crazy stuff got passed. So I’d plead with you – take one race at a time. Our country is in a tough time right now, along with the rest of the world by the way, so let’s get the best folks in there.
Democrats aren’t the only thieves in this government. America History, if told honestly, certainly can support my statement. Although it is the Republicans enacting laws to block my vote (which is a form of thievery) I will always hold onto: “Vote for who I think can do the job”. This country has a democratic president because the previous republican president welcomed help from a foreign government to get elected through a massive disinformation campaign, abused his time in office in many ways, including holding the approved funding for Ukraine in order to get dirt on the current presidents son, and then after he lost his re-election bid, attempted to get republican governors to overturn election results! On top of that he encouraged an insurrection by violent groups. He also managed to get massive tax breaks for the rich, and left the rest of us crumbs!

Politicians from both parties mostly take money from lobbyists, PACs and rich folks – that big money really helps. Republicans have more BIG money coming in than Democrats, does that make them less or more corrupt? If you look at Politico, which bends over backwards to be fair and get to the bottom of what both parties are up to, you’ll see that we have lots of corruption and influence by corporations, rich dudes, and it’s not confined by any means to one party.

Confirms my suspicion that both Republican-dominant and Democrat-dominant states have the most corruption. Interesting that in states where Republicans, Democrats and even Independents are jousting for offices, there is less corruption. I’d say that Florida is another state which might be considered highly corrupted. It used to be a purple state and had Sunshine Laws and lots of public information laws and provisions. But, these have steadily eroded for an old-boy crony government for making money regime since Republicans took over 20 years ago.
You underestimate New Jersey and all politicians. Cold blooded murder is the currency of politics in NJ. Also the rank rotten stench of Jim Kenney’s Philadelphia is enough to bring Pennsylvania nearer to the top of this list.
We need to get the big money out of politics. Kill Citizens United. That opened the gates for dark money – tons of it coming into campaigns. Completely overall the election process. Only allow a maximum of say, $10,000 (picked that number out of the air). But put a limit on how much a candidate can spend in campaigns. One option is to have to have the government finance and account for campaigns – again talking a very limited amount, say $5,000 tops (another arbitrary number).
Any politician breaking these rules – which will be closely monitored and periodically reported – forfeits the right to ever run for office. And, more importantly faces huge fines and real prison time. Put them on a chain gang. Also the offending donator, whether individuals or corporations (they are “people” too, according to SCOTUS Citizens United scam) will also face dire penalties. Many of these thieving corporations and political action groups need to be broken up … this is one way to accomplish that. It would also make lobbyists and other “influence peddlers” obsolete.
Money and politics don’t mix. Reforming the election process is where much of the corruption begins. Nip it in the bud.
I don’t know about money and polticians but the republicans took away my reproductive rights. At one point two men from churches in which women are second class citizens were running together and I saw a great slogan on a t-shirt. It said “keep your rosaries off my ovaries.”

I can’t believe how many people don’t understand what the Supreme Court did. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg had said that abortion is a state issue, and the federal government has no say in the matter. The justices simply turned it over to the states.

They will ignore you, refuse to even investigate it let alone take official action upon it. Thinking you will have the no one to turn to and no where to turn to scenario, so you will give up and go away. That is how it works. Send your proof via certified , return receipt restricted delivery mail to the DOJ, they will ignore it. If you call them and ask why, they will simply tell you they lost your file, so if you like, you can produce all of those documents again, then pay for the postage again and wait, for months-years without so much as any type of reply. When it involves judicial corruption, the public has no constitutional rights what so ever. Think your entitled to a jury? Think again, that is the last thing they can allow to happen. In the Bar associations, we have lawyers judging other lawyers. In the commissions for Judicial conduct, we have judges judging other Judges. I know I have worked fund raising for 3 different parties. I met members of local organized crime, religious leaders, lawyers, business owners, union leaders, political party “King Makers”, bankers, insurance company owners, and new car dealers just to mention a few that were in these parties. They donated big bucks and expected protection from potential jail time. (One big clue was their names like Fred Patriot, Jane Heartfelt, Sam Sailor (A Viet Nam war Hero.)) To me a crook is a crook and the few honest politicians I have met were wealthy by the old fashion way, they worked for it over a long time and had multiple sources of income. One politician I knew was a retired Marine Lt. Col., taught night college, maxed out his 401(k) every year, bought beat-up houses and trailers off base and fixed them up to rent them out to Marines at 90% of their housing allowance, and he and two other Marines started a Real Estate business, he was also on the county council for improving Education for the county. Not only is the NYS executive branch corrupt we recently convicted the head of the State Assembly Sheldon Silver for taking kickbacks from highway and construction contractors. Silver was removed from office but asked for leniency due to his age and health. I still don’t know if he ever served jail time. In Rochester we recently removed our mayor Lovely Warren on corruption charges. Warren should have gone to jail but was only required to resign one month early. She also faced charges of having a loaded handgun in proximity to her 3 year old daughter. Warrens husband is currently facing federal drug and illegal firearm charges. Both Silver and Warren are Democrats.

Having lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, Alaska, Florida, and Delaware, Delaware is the most ignorant and corrupt state in which I have lived. Over thirty (30) years of one-party Democrat rule are like begging for corruption, abuse of power, and ultimately a police state. Delaware is on its way to becoming a police state in my opinion. Example: Last year a 51-year-old mentally-ill woman, Kelly Rooks, called 911 for an ambulance (as she had done previously, e.g., two days before this. This time a Delaware state trooper arrived (at about the same time as EMT’s) and shot her 5 times. There are too many details to relate here. An “investigation” (by the Democrat Attorney General’s office) exonerated the state trooper, sending a powerful message to state troopers and other police. I was a victim of misconduct by a Delaware state trooper. An attorney said that a jury would probably award me $10,000 but that my legal expenses would be $50,000. There is virtually no way to hold a state trooper accountable for anything in Delaware. This is just the tip of the iceberg of corruption and abuse.

Surprised this list doesn’t include Arizona. All ‘most corrupt states’ lists should have it at the top. Total political cesspool. How could the person in charge of running elections somehow be a candidate in those elections, and then have 30% of the voting machines conveniently fail, with most of the failures being in her competitor’s strongholds. But wait, there’s more! Arizona doesn’t launch an investigation, or re-run the election in the places where the machines failed. And to show I’m not a crazy MAGA republican, look up Governor Meacham (R) from the late ’80’s. Totally crazy, far right wingnut who eventually got busted on a variety of criminal charges. This state stinks.

The days when politicians ran for office to represent their constituents are almost gone. Both Republican and Democrats are more self serving than their desire to serve the public. Texas ought to be on this list based on Paxton alone. He was elected Attorney General the first time while under indictment for securities fraud. Then he used his office to hamstring progress toward a trial. Then we was caught using his office to benefit a corrupt Real Estate operative crony who remolded his kitchen. After being caught he fired 4 whistle blowers in retaliation. They successfully sued and Paxton tried to get Texas taxpayers to pay for his judgement. The Texas Legislature balked and after investigating, found Paxton incredibly guilty. The House overwhelming voted to impeach. Then the real statewide corruption began as the Texas Senate found him not guilty – ignoring all the unchallenged evidence. To top it off, Paxton retaliated by funding primary opposition to every honest House member as well as Texas Supreme Court members who dared to rule against him.

Illinois sure ranks at the very top along with California and New York. They have at this moment in time the three most corrupt governors in the country two of them very very rich and one of them very rich because they have so much money and they buy of judges , they think they’re above the law because their state governments are so corrupt is the only reason they’re still there take Pritzker he’s been over there in South America using his money to Harbor illegal aliens that are coming into this country. I was a bit shocked that California is not on this list. Right about Democrats. I would never vote for D as they talk about democracy but their policies destroy democracy.
