Biden Addresses The Issue Of Gun Control….. Again

Biden’s serious intentions to deal with the issue of gun violence in America would continue in his time as Vice President to Barrack Obama, when in December 2012, the then president named him head of Gun Violence Task Force in the wake of the tragic events at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Unfortunately, both the then president’s and vice president’s efforts would ultimately be for naught as the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013 and the Manchin-Toomey Amendment to expand background checks on gun purchases they tried to introduce were summarily defeated in the Senate on April 17, 2013.

It would appear that president Biden’s current efforts are likely to see history repeating itself as his executive actions to address gun violence are limited and will again face legal opposition from gun rights supporters who will undoubtedly be shaking their fists at him while clutching a copy of the Second Amendment.

The resistance has already begun with the National Rifle Association calling Biden’s proposed legislative changes as a ‘circus’ and accusing the president of dismantling the Second Amendment and urged its members to “stand and fight”.

But what exactly are the measures Biden wants to introduce that have the NRA up in arms (so to speak)?

The plans include making “stabilizing braces” – which turn pistols into rifles – subject to registration under the National Firearms Act. Stricter regulation of “ghost guns” – kit guns that are purchased with no serial numbers making them easy to use for terrorists and criminals.
