Florida
12. Maxwell Frost
Before stepping into the world of politics, Frost was the national organizing director for March for Our Lives, a student-led demonstration in support of gun control legislation that took place in Washington, D.C., on March 24, 2018, with over 880 sibling events throughout the United States and around the world.
After Democrat Val Demings vacated the seat for Florida’s 10th Congressional District to run for Senate, the 25-year-old Frost decided to run for office. With making the reduction of gun violence a central part of his campaign, he would defeat state Senator Randolph Bracy and former U.S. Representatives Alan Grayson and Corrine Brown, among others, in the August 23, 2022, primary.
He would then defeat Republican Calvin Wimbish in the midterms to become the youngest member of Congress, the first Generation Z member of Congress, and the first Afro-Cuban member of Congress.
