After spending several years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve, then working as an investment banker in New York, Moore turned his attention to becoming a successful author, publishing five well received books. He gained more national attention when the host of Beyond Belief on the Oprah Winfrey Network, serving as an executive producer.
After announcing his run for Governor of Maryland he received several high profile endorsments from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Prince George’s County executive Angela Alsobrooks, former Governor Parris Glendening and of course, Oprah Winfrey. After winning the Democratic primary against former Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez and Comptroller Peter Franchot, he would defeat Republican nominee Dan Cox to become Maryland’s first Black governor.
