3. China Is Contributing To Global Warming
China may have gained a name for itself as a polluter with its smog filled megacities, with Beijing along experiencing constant red alerts for environmental pollution in just the last few years. However, this belies the reality that China has built more solar and wind electricity generating capacity than any other nation.
However, despite being the world leader in renewable energy, with an ever growing population and national wealth, the energy demand is growing with it. According to The International Energy Agency, by 2040, the average Chinese household will use double the amount of electricity it is using today. As the world’s biggest energy-related carbon dioxide emitter, China could continue to be one of the biggest threats to global warming in the years to come.
