2. One Third of the World’s New Vegetation is Being Planted in China
NASA satellites have shown the world is literally getting greener with China leading the way in the last two decades. Despite being only 6.3% of the world’s landmass, reforestation projects and intensified agriculture have spread vegetation across more of the country’s land. Over the last five years alone, The Shandong Ecological Afforestation Project has planted trees on 67,000 hectares of barren mountainous slopes and saline coast.
Based on United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, China has created three sustainable development zones in Shenzhen, Guilin, and Taiyuan. North America at the moment have more vegetation, however, they don’t show a similar increase and this could have a devastating effect on future food product and the export power of the US on the global food market.
