Currently serving as the 19th United States Secretary of Transportation, Buttigieg became one of the first openly gay men to launch a major party presidential campaign when he ran as a candidate for president in the 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries. Although he dropped out of the race and endorsed Joe Biden the following day, since then he has gained a reputation as a politician able to go on Fox News and combat the right’s talking points in a calm and steady manner.
If Trump should seek to run again in 2024, or even if he didn’t and DeSantis ends up as the Republican party’s preferred candidate, having a cool, calm, and collected opponent to the ever increasingly hostile rhetoric coming from the right, many would see Buttigieg as a candidate they could get behind. A recent poll backed that up as Buttigieg polled higher than President Biden as a potential 2024 White House hopeful. Buttigieg however, continues to deflect any talk of another White House run.

When comes the time that we have respectable candidates that are there for the people? I don’t see anyone one either side of the isle. When will the grab ass games from the powerful who are truly bored from having so much? It will really be a boring time when no one can be there to torment and starve. A current governor with the nations highest income tax, highest sales taxes, who was almost recalled, who just passed a pro-abortion law setting up an organization to help out women who wanted abortions but cannot afford them, and including/inviting teenage girls to visit those clinics without parental consent, and inviting teenagers from other states to come to California to get their abortions.
A homosexual who would set one heck of historical first by being the first to live in the White House with his husband, and I now understand with an adopted child.
A Vice President who doesn’t seen to know if she’s coming or going,or what day of the week she’s living in. And, with a popularity rating in the 20’s.
A sworn socialist who has never had a job outside of “public service” and who is a sworn socialist who owns 3 mansions. Also, has a wife who was convicted of fraud when she was president of a college.
And, finally, a good-for-nothing current “President” who does not know what he’s doing and how to run a country. Cannot get his facts straight when giving an off-the-cuff speech or interview, has the money printing presses working overtime making our money worth less and less, causing goods to be prices sky-high. AND, who has broken into our strategic oil reserves that are being saved for use in case of war or some other drastic emergency, and sold first 950,000 barrels of oil to China from the reserve, and then, very quietly sold another three million barrels to them. And who was the middle man in all of these sales? None other than HUNTER BIDEN.
Democrats have an excellent list of candidates. Can’t wait for 2024 so I can vote for one of them.

There are some good potential candidates here. I hope that Warren and Sanders don’t run as we’ve been there, heard that. Klobuchar, Buitegieg and Newsome would be strong, and Amy and Gavin have lots of good experience.

I can’t believe that a man twice impeached, who only got off because his party covered for him, and who is facing indictment for fomenting the Jan 6th insurrection PLUS a civil suit for tax fraud, can get the nomination for President again. He still has his core support of people who will vote for him no matter what he does, but it may not be enough this time. The rejection of most of the candidates he endorsed in the Midterms means something, I think. He is in too much trouble to be thinking about running again, but he just calls it a witch hunt & goes on with his plans. No one is above the law. If he is convicted & sentenced to imprisonment, he brought it on himself.
In the abstract, it seems that anyone with the potential to be a true statesman will probably not run, because there is so much corruption that a true statesman would want no part of it, or see any hope of effective change as futile.
But someone has to run, & we citizens have a responsibility to our democracy to vote, despite everything. I wonder if Mike Pence would be a good President. A Vice-President has to be loyal & support the President, but I wonder what his true opinions are. When it came down to it, he defied Trump & the results of the 2020 election were certified. Biden won & all of Trump’s claims of election fraud are bogus, as evidenced by all his lawsuits being dismissed for lack of any real evidence. Pence at least has held office in Indiana & has some experience, which Trump never had. I will be watching with interest to see how the candidacies shake down in both parties. I pray God gives us good leadership. We sorely need it.
