Finishing the border wall
Another false claim that he used during his announcement was related to one of his signature policies, which is a wall at the border with Mexico. “We built the wall, and we’ll add to it. We built the wall – we completed the wall- and then we decided to do more, and we did a lot more.
But as we were doing it, we had an election coming up. When they came in, they had three more weeks to complete the wall, which would have been amazing, and they said no, we’re not going to do that.” As you can imagine by now, his claim is completely false. In fact, it’s not even close to true that he “completed” the border wall.
As the official “Border Wall Status” report that was written by US Customs and Border Protection showed, around 458 miles of the wall were completed under Trump – but 280 extra miles that had been linked to a possible wall construction weren’t completed.
The report, which was provided to CNN’s Priscilla Alvarez, explained that, out of those 280, 74 miles were “in the pre-construction phase”.
